Committee Charge
To direct Federation efforts to monitor and respond to federal legislation and advocacy issues related to Federation priorities.
Objectives
1. Annually, identify current and emerging legislative and advocacy areas of interest to the Federation and recommend strategies for FASEB engagement, with approval by the Board of Directors.
2. Direct Federation efforts to advocate for federal research funding and other issues related to biological and biomedical research. Provide input on projects and activities to demonstrate the conduct, communication, use, and impact of the federal investment in biological and biomedical research to policymakers and the public.
3. Develop statements, letters, congressional testimony, and other correspondence on federal legislative issues related to Federation priorities.
4. Oversee and provide guidance on the development of resources to provide advocacy training for the biological and Biomedical research community.
5. Coordinate consensus efforts (e.g., strategies, position papers, reports, etc.) within FASEB and its member societies pertaining to Board-approved legislative and advocacy priorities.
6. Develop mechanisms for consulting with FASEB's Affiliate members to assess their advocacy needs and priorities and lead efforts to ensure their engagement in and collaboration with the federation's advocacy activities.
