Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

The Special Interest Groups (SIGs) listed below provide valuable networking opportunities and leverage society staff expertise to ensure all societies thrive. SIGs are a open only to full member societies.

Animals in Research

The Animal Research Special Interest Group serves as a forum for member society public affairs staff and other interested members to discuss specific issues related to animal research policy, regulation, and legislation. The goal of this group will to be collaborate, share expertise and experiences, and establish a collective strategy to address common challenges and policy opportunities.

Schedule: Every other month on a designated day and time; additional, topic-specific calls may be held on an as-needed basis

Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion (DEAI)

The DEAI SIG is a collaborative resource for FASEB member society staff responsible for initiatives and programs related to diversity, equity, accessibility, and/or inclusion. This SIG is intended to provide a forum for discuss and provide support for DEAI issues and initiatives.

Executive Officers Advisory Committee (EOAC)

The Executive Director of the Federation and the Executive Officer of each of the full member societies shall comprise the Executive Officers Advisory Committee. The Executive Officers Advisory Committee shall address items of mutual interest to the Federation.

Marketing and Communications

The Member Society Communicators Forum works to enhance communications among FASEB and its societies and bring greater visibility to the federation’s programs, activities, and services. The forum is open to society staff (and designated volunteers) who have communications and/or marketing duties in their day-to-day jobs at FASEB Full member societies

Meetings and Conferences

The Meeting Planners Forum aims to provide FASEB member societies’ staff a platform to discuss meeting and conference-related topics, share ideas, compare best practices, and learn from each other. The forum is open to any society staff involved in meeting planning.

Public Affairs

FASEB staff and occasional guest speakers provide updates and insider information related to legislative affairs and science policy topics. Society staff are offered the opportunity to share updates on their priorities for awareness and collaboration, to exchange information, and to network with their colleagues. This weekly meeting is open to society staff responsible for science policy, advocacy, and/or government affairs activities.

Publications

FASEB staff and invited speakers provide updates and engage on publishing related issues, including open science and research integrity. Society publishing staff are frequent speakers, sharing updates on their society publishing initiatives. Staff members have the opportunity to exchange information, to network with their colleagues, to hear updates on FASEB’s open science and research integrity efforts, and to work with FASEB to identify opportunities for collaboration. This meeting was piloted in 2022, and is a new formal addition to FASEB’s offerings in 2023. Meetings will be held quarterly and this group is open to all society staff responsible or engaged with publishing and/or open science activities.

Workforce

The Workforce SIG is an opportunity for society staff engaged in workforce issues to connect with each other doing similar work, ask for advice, learn from each other’s programming, and spur collaboration.
