LEAD is a reverse mentoring program that pairs senior-level professionals with junior-level mentors to gain different perspectives of views in the workplace. The program facilitates mentoring and networking experiences to help the individuals in the program while helping to transform the culture of the biological research community. All biological/biomedical scientists are eligible to apply, however, priority will be given to those who are part of a full-member society of FASEB.

Talking Points:

  • FASEB Leadership Engagement and Appreciation of Differences (LEAD) Program fosters a culture of sharing diverse perspectives in an open, respectful, confidential, and trusting environment.  Through this authentic exchange of perspectives, we are working towards transforming the culture within the biological research community. 
  • LEAD is a reverse mentoring program that pairs senior-level professionals with junior-level mentors to gain different perspectives of individual, group, and cultural views within the workplace and the scientific research communities. 
  • Examples of reverse mentors may include early career researchers like Assistant or Associate Professors, postdocs, graduate students, managers, analysts, or coordinators. 
  • Examples of reverse mentees include deans, provosts, vice presidents, or presidents, department chairs or division chiefs, professors, or executive directors.  
  • The commitment for FASEB’s LEAD program is for one year. 
  • Membership in a full FASEB society is not required to participate in LEAD; however, individuals who are members of full-member FASEB societies will be given priority. 
  • The application period for LEAD is open May 6 - June 14, 2024.
