Board of Directors December 8-9, 2022, Meeting Summary

Key highlights of the December Federation Board meeting included an update on the DataWorks! program, approval of the DEAI Committee Charter and bylaw amendments providing for a new Vice President and Vice President-Elect for DEAI, recommendations from the OneHealth Task Force, and an endorsement of the Early Career Representative Engagement Task Force report.

The Board spent a substantial amount of time discussing FASEB’s 2023 operating plan, which will guide the Federation’s work in the coming year, and multi-year financial scenarios that were developed over the past several months. These discussions culminated in the approval of the 2023 budget and operating plan.

The Board also approved the formation of a Future Focus Task Force. FASEB, like many scientific organizations, is facing significant financial challenges as we transition into the new post-pandemic environment. The goal of this task force is to identify, research, and analyze changes to FASEB’s existing business and operational models to ensure long-term financial stability that will allow the Federation to continuing its mission to advance scientific discovery.
